Trip Introduction

The Lang Tang Valley the valley is colorful, culturally affluent, and diverse-in-landscape trekking routes in Nepal. Our 10-11 Days hiking adventure takes us to one of the most stunning highlands in Himalayas of Nepal.  Although at a very short distance from Kathmandu, capital of Nepal, the Lang Tang Valley area is a remote mountainous region and offers visitors hauntingly rugged beauty. At the height of 7000 meters the area is a protected national park that covers an area of 1710 sq km and is home to 46 mammal species including grey wolf, snow leopard, musk deer, Himalayan black bear etc.

We take to the trails on foot, hiking amid dramatic cliffs, beautiful forests and sparkling streams. Along the way, we visit medieval monasteries, drop in at local teashops, local cheese factories and, with the help of our local guides, gain a better understanding of this charming region.

Our hiking takes us to several nomad Sherpa village whose people have lived off animal husbandry for generations. Walking through the hills, we are greeted by dense forests of rhododendron which carpet the landscape. We pass through wild forests to, where the trails offers miles of beautiful cliffs.

After 7 hours ride from Kathmandu our trek we start in the Syabru Bensi which means Syabru foothill in nepali, hiking through its forests. Once an important trading route with Tibet, this influence is reflected in the character of the villages and peoples of the region. During part of the trek you will be walking through National Park that protects some of the most rarest and elusive wild species like red pandas and snow leopards.

From Langtang village, the track continues to Kyangjin Gompa a small Sherpa village famous for its local cheese Factory. Yala can be reached within half a day from Kyangjin Gompa. From Kyangjin Gompa, a continuation to the pastures of Langsisa provides the good views of numerous glaciers. There is some small settlement of cattle herders in Langsisa that can be reached within one day’s walk from Kyangjin Gompa.

A steep climb out of  Kyanjin Gompa to Chorka Ri gets the adrenaline flowing pretty quickly but as always, the spectacular scenery of whole Langtang Himalayas, including Langtang Lirung (7,244m), Langshisa Ri (6,810 m.), Gyanghempo (6,888 m.) Ganjala peak, Nayakang  is adequate compensation. After the initial climb, an old porter’s road rambles gently through the magnificent Langtang valley.

 

 

Outline Itinerary

A typical Langtang valley trek consist of the following day to day activities:

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to the Hotel

Day 1: Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1600 meters)

Day 2: Trek to Lama Hotel (2470m)

Day 3: Trek to Langtang village (3430m.)

Day 4: Trek to Kyangjin (3870m), then climb to kyangin Ri and back to Kyangjin Gompa

Day 5: Trek to Lama Hotel (2470m)

Day 6: Trek to Syabru Besi.

Day 7: Drive to Kathmandu.

Day 01: Reach Kathmandu

After reaching Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be received by one of our representative at the airport who will drop you at our hotel. After you freshen up, dinner will be served at the evening.

Day 02: Kathmandu:

After the breakfast we begin our guided tour to several historical and cultural sites in Kathmandu. We will visit some of the World Heritage Sites including Pashupatinath temple of lord shiva, Durbar Square, the famous (Swayambhunath) and Bouddhanath, At noon, We will plan our trip and check our inventory. The tour guide who is an experienced trekker briefs us about our trek, do our inventory checks and prepare us for the journey.

Day 03:  Kathmandu city to Syabrubesi : 7-8 hours

We start from Kathmandu next day in the morning and take a bus to  Syabrubesi village, which is the starting point for our journey into the Langtang valley. The trek will take us through winding road. On a clear day we can have a spectacular view of Manaslu, Ganesh and Annapurna. Finally we reach  the small village of Syabrubesi by evening.

Day 04:  Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel :6 hours

In the morning, we start our trek to Syabrubesi beside Langtang river. We climb up and down the hills  through rhododendron forests. After crossing a bridge over the river we walk down on a steep trail which will lead us to the Lama Hotel.

Day 05: Trek to Mundu through Langtang village: 6-7 hours

We continue to climb from Lama Hotel and enjoying the mountainous landscape and stop by waterfalls to enjoy the view. As we reach the grassy lands  of Ghoda Tabela, we will see the beautiful peaks of the Langtang range. Our trail takes us through the widening valley, passing by a few temporary settlements of cattle herders. We will pass ruins of  Buddhist monastery that was affected by earthquake before we reach the Langtang village then continue on our trail to Mundu.

Day 06:  Trek from Mundu to Kyangjin Gompa: 4-5 hours

In the morning, we continue our journey to Kyangjin Gompa, one of the biggest monastery of the region. We will pass by mani which is stoned walls with Tibetan scriptures inscribed on them. Further ahead will we spend our afternoon exploring Kyangjin Gompa – Buddhist shrine.

Day 07: Acclimatization- Explore Tserko Ri : 7-8 hours

We spend the whole day in Tserko Ri that help us to acclimatize in this high altitude climate. We begin early in the morning and take the trail through yak pastures before reaching Tserko Ri. The view of sunrise from the top of Tserko Ri compensates for all the difficult climb during our journey here. We walk back to Kyangjin Gompa exploring monasteries and enjoying the beautiful views of Himalayas.

Day 08: Kyangjin Gompa to Lama Hotel: 6-7 hours

After the breakfast and retrace our hike back to Lama Hotel through the same trail. Most of the difficult trekking is done and we return back on a downhill as we hike through forests and small shrepa villages. It is also possible for us to enjoy the different views of Himalayas that was behind us and we missed during our climb up.

Day 09: Trek from Lama Hotel to Syabrubesi: 4-5 hours

We continue to retrace our route back from lama hotel to syabrubesi.

Day 10: Syabrubesi to Kathmandu

We will celebrate the success of our trip at Langtang Valley by hosting a farewell dinner. Before we take our bus to Kathmandu next morning.

Day 11: End of the journey

After returning to Kathmandu our representative will take you to the airport for your flight back home.
